I can’t write about our days
at the New Parent Orientation, because we are out of internet time – but I
promise to write about it tomorrow.
Let me just say this: it was wonderful. RVA is a fantastic school, and we are so
happy that Stephen gets this opportunity.
At the same time, leaving him
in Kenya, while we will be in Rwanda this year, was such a difficult thing to
do. He will be greatly missed. Not just by his family, but the mechanics to
whom he was teaching English every day, and by Janet the red-headed nurse from
Philly, and by Julie, the nurse from Washington State.
Thank you to everyone who was
praying for me (and Tim) to have the strength to let go (again), and to
everyone who will keep praying for Stephen on this new chapter of his life
journey.
We are about to start our 7
hour drive back to the hospital. Three
hours of the ride are very curvy and bumpy and make us feel quite motion
sick. I’m not looking forward to that
ride, but I am looking forward to getting back to the hospital, and checking on
some of the patients we left behind.
Will post more later about
RVA, meanwhile, enjoy the pictures – I will post more pics tomorrow!
Stephen taught English to the mechanics at Kibogora - here he is saying goodbye to two of them. |
The school store, where kids get all their school supplies, etc. They sell ice cream and cokes each Friday!! |
The college counselor's office. |
The student travel office, where each student makes their travel plans at the end of each term, so they can fly home to their parents' mission station. |
I love this saying - a great reminder. "Being made in the image and likeness of God, we have an obligation to treat all people with fairness, dignity, and respect." |
Each junior and senior is issued a laptop tablet for school. |
President Theodore Roosevelt laid the cornerstone for this building at RVA in 1909! |
